Natalie Portman is one of the more stunning and relevant celebrities of our time.
We would like to help you catch a spark of that star power and add it to your wardrobe, without costing millions of dollars of course.
Stars like Natalie Portman have an army of designers and stylists working to keep up their image. Sometimes, analyzing the reasons for their success can give you the same benefits, so this isn’t so much an attempt to be Natalie Portman as an attempt to understand the choices that went into her look.
Lets get to know her a bit better. The InStyle best dressed woman of ’07, Natalie Portman completed a bachelors degree at Harvard while working on the Star Wars movies in her role as Darth Vader’s love interest. She is a vegan, so no furs or leather in this wardrobe! Natalie Portman is also an environmental activist and anti-poverty, so this outfit is socially responsible all the way. No religious symbols either.
Go with something light and comfortable like this outfit by Laura Dawson. The skirt is $160 and the proceeds go to global warming. Environmentalism isn’t just a trend, it is a value, and I mean that in every sense of the word. The extra price you pay buys you the light hearted feeling of being a force for good in the world every time you wear it. It also comes with a much greater likelihood of being made with care by people who also wish to do good, and supports their ability to do so. It sure beats the thoughts of sweatshops and chemicals that seem to cling to cheap mass productions.
PETA has quoted Natalie Portman as saying she gets all of her shoes from Stella McCartney or Target, but she has her own line of shoes now. She likes her shoes bold and either very light, or wedge heeled.
Does anyone know where I could find these? The lavender would compliment the peridot and amethyst nicely. Bold, without feeling like a distraction.
Natalie Portman favors lightweight or intricate designs. OK Weekly’s Dress For Your Element suggested a peach Mirabella bracelet from Holly Yashi, a California studio. Points for US manufacturer, use of niobium, which is hypoallergenic, and the price is a value. It is from the Bohemian Chic line and looks a bit solid for her tastes. I’d switch the color to the sage with peridot and amethyst if trying to match with this look.
Perhaps more appropriate would be a pair of verdigris Jasmine earrings from the same designer, which are about as light and intricate as they come.
This pendant from Italian designer Akuamarina is available here in the states via amazon. It matches our shoes nicely and continues their bold statement.
Top it off with a bridal headwrap by Jennifer Behr. You shouldn’t be afraid to wear something just because it has bridal in its name and you aren’t wearing a wedding dress. Brides put a great deal of time into thinking about exactly what they are going to wear on their wedding day, and sparing no expense to look their best despite wearing a giant white dress. Save the dress for the wedding and let Jennfer Behr help you look your best on a regular basis. She has some less bridal looking items like this swarovski crystal and satin headband available in six colors, any of which would look great with our outfit.
I didn’t notice until after reading up on her Brooklyn studio that her work has been worn by Natalie Portman. I guess we were on the right track.
